- The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a surgical specialty in dentistry that includes the surgical diagnosis, esthetic treatment, functional treatments of diseases, injuries, defects of intraoral organs such as teeth, gingiva, oral mucosa, tongue, and reconstructive treatment of jaws, face, head and neck. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are trained to treat and care for patients who have maxillofacial injuries, facial deformity, acute and chronic infection, dental implant, cleft lip and palate, salivary gland disease, oral mucosa disease, cyst of jaw. The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is currently focused on pursuing research projects on congenital cleft lip & palate, oral cancer, congenital or acquired facial deformity, basic study and clinical treatment of implant, and TMJ disorder.
