The Chonnam National University Hospital (Young Keun Ahn, President) entered into agreement for technology transfer for ‘medical stent and its surface treatment method’ with Noanix Co., Ltd. (representative director: Hyeong Jun Choi), a company specializing in coating of biomaterials.
The Chonnam National University Hospital entered into the said agreement in the presence of interested parties of the Hospital including Young Keun Ahn, the President of the Hospital, Jae Min Kim, director of Medical Life Research Institute, and Professor Myung Ho Jeong of the Cardiovascular Medicine Department, etc. and Hyeong Jun Choi, representative director of Noanix, etc. in the Conference Room on the 2nd Fl. of Administration Bldg. of the Hospital on the 15th.
‘Medical stent and its surface treatment method’, which is the technology being transferred, was jointly researched and developed by the research team of Professor Myung Ho Jeong of the Cardiovascular Medicine Department and Korea Cardiovascular Stent Research Institute through the project support of the Convergent Cardiovascular Research Center of the Ministry of Health & Welfare, and patent was applied for and registered with the support of the Biomedical Research Institute of the Chonnam National University Hospital.
This is a surface treatment technology capable of endowing very high level of hydrophilicity to stent used in enlarging narrowed blood vessels due to various diseases in very short period of time by using plasma under atmospheric pressure, thereby reducing problems such as thrombosis at the time of surgery. In addition, due to its highly outstanding biocompatibility, it is able not only to prevent secondary contamination such as inflammation at the time of coating the stent with drug but also remove organic substances that can remain on the surface in very short period of time.
Meanwhile, Professor Myung Ho Jeong has written a total of 1,836 theses thus far and presented the largest number of theses at the in the symposium of the Korean Society of Cardiology for 19 years in succession. He also has the nickname of pig daddy as he has produced 22 Ph.D. degree holders in medicine through heart experiences conducted on 3,578 pigs. He is continuing with global registration research by having registered 80,803 patients in the acute myocardial infarction registration research on Koreans conducted since 2005.
