Emergency support for descendants of Koreans living in and returned from Ukraine

The Chonnam National University Hospital, Gwangju City government and public institutions in Gwangju and Jeonnam regions provided emergency support for descendants of Koreans living in and returned from Ukraine due to the war in Ukraine to settle in Gwangju City.
The Chonnam National University Hospital, Gwangju City government and public institutions in Gwangju and Jeonnam regions held ‘ceremony for handing over of funds to support settlement of descendants of Koreans living in and returned from Ukraine as refugees of war in Ukraine to settle in Korea’ in the Business Room of the City Hall on the 13th. As such, support items valued at 21 million KRW including kits containing rice, towel, beddings and kitchen utensils and items for settlement of their lives in Korea valued at 13 million KRW were handed over.
Interested parties of Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, Korea Rural Community Corporation, Gwangju City Corporation, Gwangju Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation, Korea Power Exchange, Gwangju and Jeonnam Support Group of KOTRA as well as Chang Hwan Park, the Vice President of the Hospital, participated in the ceremony to hand over the goods and valuables to the co-representative of the Goryeo People’s Village Foundation.
Meanwhile, 467 descendants of Koreans living in and returned from Ukraine due to the war in Ukraine have settled in the Goryeo People’s Village situated in Wolgok-dong, Gwangsan-gu. Currently, approximately 270 more people are waiting to come to Korea from Romania, Poland, Germany, Hungary and Moldova, etc. and citizens are making donation to purchase their airline tickets.
