Donation of purifying agent for drinking water to refugees in Myanmar

The Chonnam National University Hospital is donating goods to fortify medical safety net for refugees in Myanmar suffering difficulties due to coup by military forces following donation of funds delivered last year.
The Chonnam National University Hospital (Young Keun Ahn, President) will be holding ‘ceremony for handing over of purifying agent for drinking water to refugees in Myanmar from the military coup in 2022’ in the presence of Father Min Seok Kim, the chairman of Justice and Peace Committee of Gwangju Archdiocese of Catholic Church in the Reception Room on the 2nd Fl. of Administration Bldg. of the Hospital on the forthcoming August 5.
This event was carried out upon the request by the Justice and Peace Committee of Gwangju Archdiocese of Catholic Church and 30,000 purification agents (valued at 3.47 million KRW) for drinking water capable of effectively sterilizing and disinfecting pathogenic microbes in water to be delivered to the refugees in Myanmar.
Justice and Peace Committee will be handing over the purification agent for drinking water, etc. by visiting refugee camp in Myanmar over the period of August 11 ~ 18 along with planning and investigation personnel and reporters covering the event, etc.
Young Keun Ahn, the President of the Hospital, stated that, “I was told that situations in Myanmar is increasingly aggravating with continual increase in the No. of poverty stricken people since the military coup in the country,” and that, “since the Chonnam National University Hospital has forged very close relationship with Myanmar including our agreement with Mae Tao Clinic that supports refugees as well as donation of funds by our staffs, we will continue to discuss various means of providing support in the future.”
