Chonnam National University Hospital's (President Ahn Young-keun) 112th-anniversary celebration included the unveiling of a bird's-eye view of the new hospital and the proclamation of the “New Smart Hospital Era.”
 
On the 26th at 4:00 p.m., Chonnam National University Hospital celebrated its 112th anniversary and the 5th anniversary of Chonnam National University Children's Hospital in Myunghak Hall of Chonnam National University School of Medicine. In a promotional video, Director Ahn stated, "The new hospital will lead the future economy of Gwangju and Jeonnam through smart advanced medical care. In addition, we will realize the improvement of the global medical environment and enter a new era of healthy, cost-effective smart hospitals." He further declared, “We will establish a new vision for Gwangju and Jeollanam-do with a people-centered, better future and a strong push to become a medical powerhouse, a future where imagination and aspirations are realized, and a spirit of challenge that adds originality to medical treatment."

Specifically, at the ceremony, a bird's-eye view, and a perspective view of Chonnam National University Hospital's "Future-oriented New Smart Hospital" were unveiled.

The look of the new hospital, which comprises of two main buildings from a bird's-eye view and perspective view, embodies the desire to carry on the legacy of Chonnam National University Hospital and move forward into the future. Particularly, the masonry construction of building 1, which represents the beginning of Chonnam National University Hospital, was adopted as a design motif for the lower floors of the new hospital, thereby inheriting a substantial and robust legacy. Simultaneously, the dazzling, high-tech image of two tall towers demonstrated Chonnam National University Hospital's ability to lead the medical system into a new era and its determination to progress forward.

In a commemorative address, the hospital's director, Ahn Young-geun, stated, "The number of 112 years since the hospital's opening is not merely time, but a valuable asset and a source of pride that only Chonnam National University Hospital possesses, which has fulfilled its mission as a central medical institution in our region, sharing the trials of the times. As the medical environment, including the concentration of medical care in the metropolitan area, the pandemic of infectious diseases, the demand for strengthening public health care, the shortage of vital manpower, and the development of ICT technology, demands constant innovation from us, we will peruse the changes of the times ahead, transform crises into new opportunities, and exert greater effort to lead Chonnam National University Hospital to a new leap forward."
