About Dept. of Gastroenterology: The Department of Gastroenterology provides comprehensive and specialized treatment for diseases of the digestive system, which includes the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, liver, biliary tract and pancreas.; The department performs esophageal manometry test for esophageal motility disease, 24-hour acidity test for gastroesophageal reflux disease, and endoscopic examination for early detection of esophageal cancer.; With respect to gastrointestinal cancer, endoscopic resection of precancerous lesions including polyps and early-stage cancers as well as various state-of-the-art treatments are performed. For gastrointestinal cancer patients who experience obstruction in the digestive system and face difficulty in recovering, ballooning and stenting is performed to improve their quality of life. Not only that, accurate diagnoses of chronic hepatitis B and C are made based on liver biopsy and personalized treatment plans are established. Moreover, comprehensive treatment is provided for alcoholic liver disease, liver abscess, and liver failure. For pancreatic and biliary diseases, the department has introduced therapeutic endoscopy including pancreatic biliary angiography for accurate diagnosis and treatment of cholelithiasis, acute or chronic cholecystitis, cholecystitis, cholangiocarcinoma, pancreatitis, and pancreatic cancer.
