About Dept. of Neurosurgery
The Department of Neurosurgery is dedicated to providing comprehensive and extensive treatment for conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, spine and peripheral nerves. It is sub-divided into cerebrovascular, spinal, stereotactic, pediatric, peripheral and trauma neurosurgery to provide more specialized treatment and care. First, cerebrovascular neurosurgery is carried out for hemorrhagic such as hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage as well as ischemic diseases and congenital cerebrovascular malformations. Intravascular surgery has been performed more increasingly in recent years.
Spinal neurosurgery covers a wide range of areas such as degenerative diseases affecting the spine including cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral vertebrae (intervertebral disc herniation, spinal stenosis, spondylosis, etc.), spinal trauma, and tumors. By performing cutting-edge microinvasive surgery and selecting the most appropriate approach (anterior, posterior, and lateral), the best possible treatment is provided to each patient.
Stereotactic neurosurgery concerns micro-surgery for Parkinson’s disease, trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm, epilepsy, and biopsy of deep brain lesions as well as endoscopic carpal tunnel release. Meanwhile, pediatric neurosurgery is the area responsible for treating head trauma, one of the most common conditions seen in the ER, as well as nervous system conditions in children.
