The Department of Plastic Surgery aims to correct congenital or acquired structural or functional defects in the body and restore their original function or appearance or make cosmetic improvements. The department can be largely divided into reconstructive plastic surgery and cosmetic plastic surgery.
Reconstructive plastic surgery is a field that is aimed at allowing patients to enjoy their lives better by restoring certain parts of the body that have been injured/damaged due to a trauma, congenital anomaly, burn, or even surgery. Cosmetic plastic surgery is a field that helps people pursue youth and beauty and gain self-confidence. ​​Plastic surgery is an extensive and comprehensive area covering various aspects of the body from head to toe, including hair loss treatment and correction of toenail deformities. It also offers a wide range of solutions for patients to choose from. With the academic and technological advances made over the years, it is now possible to address a wide range of issues concerning the functions and appearance of the body that were not possible in the past, and even today, there are breakthroughs made in plastic surgery that are opening new horizons.
Common types of treatment provided by plastic surgeons include removal of benign tumors in the face, limbs or torso such as cysts or warts, reconstruction after removal of malignant skin tumors such as basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, and reconstruction using autologous tissue in collaboration with an ENT doctor or neurosurgeon.
