The human nervous system is comprised of the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system, of which the former consists of the cerebrum, cerebellum, brainstem and spinal cord and the latter provides a connection between the spinal cord and the muscles. The Department of Neurology is a department that studies and treats all diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system and related muscles.

Common conditions that are treated include stroke, epilepsy, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, meningitis, encephalitis, peripheral neuropathy, muscle disease, spinal cord disease, and motor disorders. The department even offers advanced treatment for common headaches and dizziness. The Department of Neurology is becoming increasingly important with the rising human life expectancy and elderly population.
