The clinical programs in our department encompass the entire spectrum of available treatment modalities and include both standard clinical practice and participation in multiple clinical investigative trials on the treatment of more challenging surgical problems. This program offers all adult and pediatric cardiac surgical services, including coronary revascularization, valvular surgery, surgery for aneurysms, surgery for congenital heart disease including complex anomalies in any age. 

Our dept. served as the center of the heart and vascular disease in Honam province, Korea and is one of very few centers applying the new developed method of operation for extreme rare congenital or aquired cardiac disease in Korea. We have a leading program in the region for complex congenital heart surgery with long-standing expertise. We also offers a comprehensive approach to the treatment of general thoracic surgery(esophageal disease, tracheal disease, chest wall disease). 

Based upon 40 years of experience at our depart., we have the largest group of cardiac patients in korea. And so, from Jan 1, 2007 through Dec 31, 2007, the dept. of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery performed a total of 916 cases cardiothoracic surgical procedures(cardiac cases, thoracic cases).
